Roundhouse Park, Cringleford

The established gateway wetland landscape at the entrances to this new housing development is already an attractive local landmark, which sets the standard for a network of open spaces incorporating remnant parkland and woodland, as well as new orchards and village greens.

The strategic infrastructure landscape for this new housing development is strongly native in character, but is complemented by ornamental planting within the new residential areas. Here the design is inspired by the remnant garden and parkland on the site and by the flowering orchards which used to flourish in this part of Norwich's hinterland. The adjacent village green is a backdrop to nearby residential areas and the scheme includes a series of diverse children's play areas. At the gateway to the new housing, the drainage attenuation scheme has been designed to create a new wetland landscape with a traditional fen character where daily and seasonal water level changes contribute to a varied and attractive first impression.
