Yare Valley Landscape Sensitivity Study

Strategic landscape and visual appraisal of potential development sites in the Yare Valley, Norwich.

A comparative landscape and visual appraisal of potential development sites along the Yare Valley which demonstrates how one of them could be developed with minimal impacts on the sensitive Yare Valley landscape. The four sites were compared in terms of landscape sensitivity and capacity, taking account of their visibility from the Yare Valley Walk and the quality of the interface between valley landscapes and the adjacent urban edges. Design principles highlight the scope for carefully sited new development to improve some existing poor quality visual edges and provide new public open space, enhanced wetland management and new reedbeds.
