Strategic landscape and visual appraisal of potential development sites in the Yare Valley, Norwich.
A comparative landscape and visual appraisal of potential development sites along the Yare Valley which demonstrates how one of the sites, currently the premises of Bartram Mowers, could be developed with minimal impacts on the sensitive Yare Valley landscape.
The four sites were compared in terms of landscape sensitivity and capacity. Key components of the assessment were the visibility of the sites from the Yare Valley Walk and the quality of the interface between the valley landscapes and adjacent urban edges. Design principles prepared to guide the future development of the Bartram Mowers site highlight the scope for carefully sited new development to improve the existing poor quality visual edges along Bluebell Road and provide new public open space, enhanced wetland management and new reedbeds.
