An attractive, high quality setting for the medieval wall is structured by lines of specimen trees. The aim is to restore the gateway status of the site as a welcoming hub of activity – a “landmark” with an enhanced and lively public realm at this busy western approach to Norwich’s historic town centre.

A broad forecourt and spacious stepped building entrance is marked by a striking multi-stemmed tree; an eye-catching focus in views from the street. A central courtyard provides sunny outdoor social spaces alongside the communal reception, café and common rooms.  These paved public terraces are reached by an arching path which divides the central lawn (and public spaces) from a grove of multi-stemmed Amelanchier trees and clipped evergreen hedges which provide colour, texture and a degree of privacy alongside student rooms.
