Sudbury Health Centre

The landscape for this new health centre provides an attractive, welcoming environment with seamless connections between building and landscape

The landscape design for Sudbury’s new Community Health Centre reinterprets the local vernacular, raising the profile of Sudbury and drawing attention to the special character and qualities of its urban and rural landscapes. The scheme creates a highly legible place where visitors feel guided and supported - clear gateways,  sequential spaces, pathways and focal points, rather than an over reliance on signage. This is also a therapeutic environment, where there are opportunities for quiet contact with nature and art amidst the bustle of a busy facility.
The integrated proposals for building and landscape are a sustainable design; low carbon features include an efficient use of space, retention of spoil on site, use of native plant species, SUDs and sustainably sourced hard landscape materials.
