Bury St Edmunds' Relief Road
Detailed drawings and specifications for the design and implementation of Bury St Edmunds’ Eastern Relief Road
Working with a multidisciplinary team, Sheils Flynn contributed to the design of the Relief Road alignment, which skirts the historic Rougham Airfield Control Tower (a Grade II listed building) and takes account of the landscape settings of the small residential communities on the fringes of the existing airfield and industrial estate.
The landscape layout and planting within the road corridor is designed to reinforce local landscape character and to enhance the character and sequence of views from the A14 and local roads. The new Relief Road is an important component of the landscape setting and gateway approaches to Bury St Edmunds from the east.
