Pensthorpe Nature Park

The new landscape design scheme improves visitor orientation and circulation at Pensthorpe Nature Park, directing the arrival pathway and integrating the new facilities so that each component of the masterplan has a carefully tailored, functional forecourt space.

Pensthorpe’s new visitor landscape is designed to integrate a car park, café, indoor and outdoor play spaces, a lakeside viewing deck and health spa within the parkland grounds. The sequence of routes and spaces is carefully designed to guide visitors to key viewpoints and facilities, while revealing Pensthorpe’s stunning landscape setting. Specific design interventions – a sequence of ‘totem’ markers and a playful meandering seating wall – define safe family places to watch, meet and play while a wider network of routes and viewpoints provides an attractive well-balanced visitor experience.
